Free Pick Up Service for your Tax Deductible* Donations in Columbus, Lancaster, Dayton & Beyond
The estimated value of your tax deductible* donations to National Kidney Services (NKS) can be deducted from your annual taxable income*. Thousands of people have already experienced how good it can feel to do a good deed by donating to NKS while also reaping financial benefits, and we encourage you to do the same.
How do you make sure you can claim you tax deductible* donations at the end of the year? Simply follow these steps to make a donation:
- Make a list of each item you would like to donate to NKS. Estimate its approximate value based on its current condition. Many people even find it helpful to take pictures of the items for documentation. If you need help estimating the value of items, use the IRS valuation guide.
- Obtain a tax receipt from NKS when you donate. If you take advantage of our free charity pick up service, our drivers will automatically leave a tax receipt at your home or office once they’ve collected the donations. If you bring donations to Ohio Thrift stores or our donation drop boxes, you can obtain a receipt at that location or request that one be mailed to you.
- File your tax receipt, donation list, and photos away in a safe place. When it comes time to file your taxes, you will need to claim itemized deductions on Form 1040, Schedule A.
NKS accepts a variety of tax deductible* charitable donations, including clothes, small furniture, small appliances, electronics, books, toys, cookware, tableware, decorative items, and more. To add your name and phone number to our regular donation pick up list, simply call 614-351-2900 or fill out our online form and we will contact you when pickups are being scheduled in your neighborhood.
